Animals Around the World
Explore an interactive map of wildlife per country
Where can you see wild orangutans? When's the best month to spot whale sharks? Animals Around the World maps 1,200+ species across 127 countries, with best viewing months, park locations, and observation tips per animal. Filter by taxonomy, country, or observation type. No fluff, just the data a wildlife traveler actually needs.
I built this because wildlife travel planning is weirdly fragmented. You google "where to see leopards" and get 10 blog posts, none of which tell you the best month, which park, or how realistic a sighting actually is.
So I built a tool that maps 1,200+ species across 127 countries, with observation tags (safari, diving, trekking, hide), best viewing months per animal, and IUCN conservation status. The dataset took months of curation. Every species has park coordinates, so you can pin your itinerary directly.
It covers mammals, birds, marine life, reptiles, amphibians, and insects. The marine layer has whale sharks, manta rays, dolphins, turtles, and more, with dive sites mapped by country. Still expanding the reef fish and critters layer. Would love feedback from divers and wildlife photographers especially.
