Hey Product Hunt, I made Ampel.
I got a bit bored and built a traffic light for Claude Code sessions.
When Claude is working in another terminal, it’s useful to know whether it’s still going or has stopped to ask you something. Ampel puts that distinction in your Mac menu bar.
Red means a session needs a decision from you. Yellow means it’s working. Green means the last turn finished. If several sessions are running, a blocked one takes priority. Click the icon to see which project needs you and why.
One small detail: an empty prompt doesn’t count as needing attention. Red is reserved for something you need to respond to.
Ampel is a native SwiftUI app, free and MIT licensed. Session tracking runs locally through Claude Code hooks. You can also opt into showing your actual 5-hour and 7-day plan usage.
It requires macOS 14+ and Claude Code. There’s a setup guide on first launch.
I’d like feedback from people running several sessions, especially on missed permission prompts or cases where the light shows the wrong state.
