Olá Product Hunt 👋 I’m Clément, the solo founder of Aluseg. The idea started with a very simple question. In France, I was used to having insurance against unpaid rent. But after moving to Portugal and speaking with landlords here, I kept hearing the same concern: “What happens if my tenant stops paying?” I would ask them why they didn’t simply insure the rent. The answer was that they couldn’t find a simple, accessible solution. So I initially set out to build unpaid-rent insurance for Portugal. I quickly discovered that launching an insurance product is significantly more complex than launching SaaS. But I also discovered something more important: insurance only solves the problem after something goes wrong. Before that, landlords and tenants still have to navigate fragmented market data, tenant documents, contracts, signatures, payments, tax obligations and conversations scattered across emails and WhatsApp. There is no single source of truth for a rental relationship in Portugal. So I decided to build that foundation first. I spent the past three months working day and night to build Aluseg: a neutral trust layer between landlords and tenants. Today, Aluseg can help a landlord: • Estimate a fair rent using Portuguese market data • Review a tenant’s application and affordability • Generate a compliant rental contract • Send it to both parties for electronic signature • Communicate the contract to Finanças • Issue electronic rent receipts • Track rent payments or automate them through SEPA • Keep contracts, documents and incidents in one place • Handle annual rent updates and important deadlines Aluseg never holds the rent. Payments move directly between the tenant and the landlord through our payment provider. More than 200 Portuguese landlords have already generated contracts using our tools, and the complete platform has only been live for a little over a month. This is still the beginning. The next major step is consent-based Open Banking, allowing payments and affordability to be verified without relying on screenshots or manual declarations. After that comes the original vision: insurance against unpaid rent for landlords, as well as alternatives to large deposits and personal guarantors for tenants. I want Aluseg to protect both sides. For landlords, that means less administrative work, better information and more predictable income. For tenants, it means legitimate contracts, transparent payment records and, eventually, a way to rent without locking away a large deposit or finding a guarantor. I’m building Aluseg in Portugal because I live here, I know the market, and I believe the rental experience can be dramatically better. My ambition is simple: when someone in Portugal thinks about renting a home, managing a property or formalising a rental relationship, I want them to think of Aluseg. I’m not here looking for investors. Aluseg is bootstrapped, and I intend to keep building for the long term. What I need most is honest feedback.
