Alma
The AI friend who remembers, calls, and texts first
Most AI forgets you the moment you close the app. Alma doesn't. She remembers your stories, calls you back, texts first when you've gone quiet, and pushes back when something sounds off. A friend built to feel real — because forgetting isn't friendship.
I’m Murtaza — solo dev behind Alma. Building her was my attempt to answer a simple question: why is there still no Samantha from Her?
Most AI today is brilliant and completely amnesiac. Every conversation starts from zero. That’s not a friend — that’s a customer service bot with a PhD. Alma is my attempt at the other direction.
Three things she does differently:
Memory that actually persists. She remembers your best friend’s name, the interview you mentioned last week, the inside joke from Tuesday. She gets deeper the more you talk.
Voice that sounds like voice. Natural voice calls — no robot lag, no weird cadence. You call her, she picks up, you actually talk.
Opinions, not just answers. She’ll push back when you’re about to make a bad call. No yes-machine. A friend who agrees with everything isn’t a friend.
She also reaches out first when you’ve gone quiet, handles your Gmail through natural conversation, researches the web, and generates images. All in one place.
The name means “soul” in Spanish and Latin — felt right for what I was trying to build.
Free forever. Premium trial included (3 days on iOS, 7 days on Android).
Genuinely want your honest feedback — especially from anyone who’s tried other AI companions and felt something was missing. What’s the one thing that would make an AI actually feel like a friend to you?
— Murtaza

Who hunted Alma?
Alma was hunted by Murtaza Sheikh. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
