Hi Product Hunt, I'm Yury, the developer of Alfredo.
I built it because I wanted a launcher that feels like part of macOS rather than a web app sitting on top of it. The launchers I used kept growing: accounts, cloud sync, extensions, hundreds of megabytes for a window that shows up when you press a hotkey. I wanted the opposite: something small, native and private that does a few things well.
Alfredo is written in Swift, uses about 45 MB when idle, and never sends anything off your Mac. It keeps its own file index, updated through file system events, because Spotlight's index was not something I wanted to depend on. Clipboard history stores text, images and files and pastes straight into the app you're in. Type 200+15% or "friday" and you get the answer or a month grid right in the results.
The approach changed along the way. The first release had three features and no pricing at all. When I added the calculator and calendar, I decided that launching apps, file search and clipboard history stay free permanently, and every paid feature is announced as paid up front, so nobody gets surprised by a paywall later.
It's Apple silicon only, macOS 14 and up. I'd love to hear what you'd want from a launcher, and what feels off. I'll be around all day.
