Aletheia
Reading glasses for the web. Install, no account.
Aletheia is reading glasses for the web: a Chrome extension that hides common summary-style panels and collapses likely clutter, locally in your browser. No signup, no telemetry, no cloud classifier. On-page on/off, per-site clarify or allow, What changed, show page as-is, optional reading layout. Not an ad blocker; not AI detection. We miss on purpose rather than break pages. Settings stay on-device. For the people.
I kept opening pages and fighting an extra layer of UI before I could read: overview boxes, side rails, panels that sit on top of the thing I clicked. I didn’t want another account or a service that reads my tabs. I wanted a switch I control: hide or collapse the noisy bits locally, undo when we’re wrong, tune per site when a domain is special. Aletheia started as “reading glasses for the web”—Manifest V3, selectors and small site packs, settings in chrome.storage.local. The design evolved toward honesty: not an ad blocker, not “AI detection,” and missing some clutter on purpose so we break fewer pages. The floating panel, “What changed?”, and show-page-as-is came from that—trust through reversibility, not claims. It’s early (small install count, real feedback). I’m here for questions on permissions, false positives, and which sites still feel loud on your daily rotation.
