Ad Blocker: Block Ads & YouTube Ads

Free, open-source ad blocker that websites can't detect

Most ad blockers work great until a site throws up the "please disable your ad blocker" wall. This one is built to get past that. Instead of just blocking network requests, it runs at document_start, before the page's detection scripts execute, so by the time a site checks "did the ad load?" things already look normal. It blocks ads, pop-ups, trackers, redirect chains and YouTube ads (including mid-rolls). Free, open source (GPL-3.0), no account, no sign-up, and zero data collected.

Hey Product Hunt 👋 This started because I got locked out of a recipe site at 1am. The "disable your ad blocker" wall popped up and I refused to turn anything off just to read how much cumin goes in chili. So instead of doing the normal thing, I built my own blocker. The thing I learned: sites don't detect WHICH extension you have, they detect the side effects of blocking. Did the ad script load, did the ad container exist, etc. So the whole idea became: do the blocking early, before the page's detection code runs. The hardest part by far was Manifest V3. Chrome completely changed how and when content scripts inject, and getting the timing right so blocking fires before the page scripts took way longer than I'd like to admit. It's free, open source (GPL-3.0), zero data collected, no account or upsell. Repo's public if you want to dig through the code or report a site where ads slip through. Would genuinely love feedback, especially on sites that are aggressive about adblock detection. Roast it.
