ABYSM
A pixel-art dive to the Challenger Deep, now open source
ABYSM is a calm pixel-art exploration game for iPhone and iPad. Sink from the sunlit surface to the 10,935 m Challenger Deep and meet 75 real sea creatures at their true depths, plus 8 real landmarks like the RMS Titanic. No goals, timers or combat. ABYSM is now open source under the MIT license. Free to 1,000 m, then a one-time unlock for the deep. 16 languages, VoiceOver and game-controller support. No ads, no tracking.
Hey Product Hunt!
I launched ABYSM here in July: a quiet pixel-art dive from the surface to the bottom of the Mariana Trench, with 75 real creatures at the depths they actually live.
Today the whole game is open source under the MIT license: the Swift + SpriteKit code, the pixel art and the audio. Since the first launch it also gained VoiceOver in all 16 languages, a fix that keeps the headlamp available to VoiceOver when you resume a deep dive, and in-app links to report a bug or request a feature on GitHub.
It's free to 1,000 m, with a one-time unlock for the rest of the descent. No ads, no tracking, no account.
I'd love to hear which creature surprised you most, and PRs are welcome: github.com/apoorvdarshan/abysm
