What inspired you to build this? What problem were you trying to solve?
I was juggling half a dozen AI provider accounts — OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, plus video model providers — each with its own billing, its own minimums, and surprise invoices at the end of the month. What I actually wanted was simple: one wallet, one API, and the real price of every call visible before I made it. So I built 97AI: a pay-per-use marketplace where 360+ models (video, image, music, chat) sit behind one credit wallet, prices are published per-model and re-synced hourly, and failed generations cost $0.
How did your approach evolve while working on this launch?
It started as a thin API relay for developers. Three things changed along the way. First, billing transparency became the product — we made the entire price sheet public and machine-readable instead of hiding it behind a calculator. Second, we realized underserved markets were the real wedge: we shipped five UI languages and local payment rails (Alipay, WeChat Pay, UnionPay QR, USDC) because most AI platforms only take US credit cards. Third, we moved from "API-first" to "consumer-friendly": a playground, a community, and zero-risk billing, so non-developers can use frontier models without reading docs first.
