Hi Product Hunt,
I built 22 Hours for my own aligner treatment, and most of it is a reaction to
things that happened to me while I was wearing them.
The tracker I was using capped my progress photos partway through treatment and
folded what I'd already bought into a subscription. Later it started running
full-screen ads over the screen where you correct a timestamp, which is the one
screen you only open because something already went wrong. At one point it
crashed on launch, and reinstalling lost the history.
I don't think any of that was malice. It's what happens when a free tracker has
to become a business four years in. But it decided what this one is:
- Photos live in your library, not ours. They go to a "22 Hours" album on your
own device, they survive uninstalling the app, and there's no cap.
- No ads. Anywhere. Especially not on the screen where you fix a session.
- What you buy stays bought. Pro is a one-time purchase as well as a
subscription, so you never have to rent the app. The timer, both numbers,
streaks, stats, the calendar and unlimited photos are free regardless.
- Nothing to lose on reinstall. No account, no analytics, no server on our side.
iOS syncs through your own iCloud; Android stays on-device with an optional
backup to your own Google Drive, off by default.
The app itself shows hours worn and out-time left together. The worn total is
the number your orthodontist asks about. The out-time budget is the one you need
at 7pm with your trays in your hand, working out whether dinner is going to cost
you the day. Both against the goal your orthodontist actually gave you, because
not everyone gets 22 hours despite the name. One tap in, one tap out.
Honest about what it isn't:
- Pro is iOS-only right now: the Apple Watch app, Key Insights and Key Events.
- On Android everything is free and there's nothing to buy. That's not generosity, the Android app is younger. WearOS is coming soon.
- No home-screen widget yet. It's been the most requested thing in this category for years and I don't have it. It's an upcoming feature.
- It's a tracker, not medical advice. Your orthodontist sets your goal; the app
just holds you to it.
